shouted News News Call the paper call the radio and call the president Mr Andrews cleared his throat again Austin please sit down and pay attention Austin slid into his seat and leaned forward his hands pushing his ears toward Mr Andrews 9
Wendy thought she would explode if Mr Andrews didn’t tell them his news It was like a big storm in her stomach As saying I was I have an announcement A big announcement Mr Andrews said He leaned against his desk Then he smiled Wendy wondered how Mr Andrews could smile about leaving them I’d like to announce something wonderful and amazing And something sad Mr Andrews said During spring break I’ll be looking for a new house I’ve been offered a job at a school in Arizona as a vice principal next year Wendy held her breath She didn’t want to hear what else he had to say But he said it anyway 10
The sad part is I’ve talked to Mrs Stuard and I am taking a leave of absence to move and get prepared It means well it means that I won’t be your teacher any longer Wendy looked at Jessica It couldn’t be true But he’d said it He was moving away before the school year ended Mr Andrews was leaving Circleville Elementary 11
